acronyms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But are they really, though?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As an INTJ, I can testify there are some key differences between the two MBTI types.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But there are also some important ways they\u2019re rather similar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And today, we\u2019ll cover both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So let\u2019s dive straight in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"ez-toc-container\" They make up just about <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/chapter\/10.1007\/978-981-10-0983-9_59\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2\u20135% of the population.<\/a> So good chances are, you might have never met one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, if you did, how would you know?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s take a closer look at its cognitive functions. Here they are, sorted in the order they\u2019re most used:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Extroverted intuition<\/strong> &#8211;&nbsp; ENTPs are brainstormers, and they express their ideas out loud. They search for patterns and connections to create theories and predict outcomes. Before settling on the right one, ENTPs like exploring their options first.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Introverted thinking<\/strong> &#8211; ENTPs apply logic and reasoning to understand a situation or a problem. Because it\u2019s introverted, it\u2019s focused on bringing order to their inner worlds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Extroverted feeling<\/strong> &#8211; this function focuses on values. It helps ENTPs consider other people\u2019s emotions and priorities when assessing their actions. However, it\u2019s often undeveloped, which is why ENTPs might appear unkind.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Introverted sensing<\/strong> &#8211; rather weak in ENTPs. This function helps with storing information in an organized way for future use. They\u2019re not afraid of an intellectual challenge. In fact, that\u2019s what pumps them up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INTJs are just as rare as ENTPs. That means chances are even slimmer of knowing both of them in real life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But let\u2019s decipher which personality traits make INTJs what they are. To do that, let\u2019s take a look at their <a href=\"https:\/\/intjsecrets.com\/blog\/intj-cognitive-functions\/\">cognitive functions<\/a> in the order they\u2019re used:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Introverted intuition<\/strong> &#8211; INTJs see patterns in things, which helps them see the bigger picture. This allows them to stay focused on the goal, even if it\u2019s a long-term one.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Extroverted thinking<\/strong> &#8211; this function makes INTJs very objective and efficient. It allows them to apply logic and rational reasoning when making a decision.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Introverted feeling<\/strong> &#8211; this is a relatively undeveloped function for an INTJ. But when it\u2019s used, it helps INTJs act in accordance with their morals and values.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Extroverted sensing<\/strong> &#8211; this function helps INTJs stay focused on physical presence. But if you try analyzing their actions deeper, you\u2019ll notice their reasonings are entirely different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_they_communicate\"><\/span>How they communicate<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Both ENTP and INTJ tend to be precise and objective when communicating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But between the two, one tends to take it too far sometimes. That\u2019s INTJ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INTJs always <strong>say what they mean<\/strong>, regardless of whether that will upset someone. For them, putting the truth across is more important than feelings. They don\u2019t see the point in saying something they don\u2019t mean for the sake of sparing others the harshness of the truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ENTPs, on the other hand, find it important to <strong>see different perspectives<\/strong>, so they\u2019re no strangers to placing themselves in others\u2019 shoes. This makes them more empathetic to others, so they\u2019re more tactical when giving constructive criticism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They won\u2019t sugarcoat it, though. ENTPs will still serve you the facts, but with more consideration of how you might take it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_they_approach_work\"><\/span>How they approach work<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>ENTP and INTJ &#8211; these two personalities have different working methods. Together, they create balance in the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ENTPs approach tasks at hand in a rather <strong>disorganized way<\/strong>. While that might be a very confusing method to others, it makes perfect sense for an ENTP. People with this personality type are most creative when improvising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INTJs are able to see the bigger picture, which helps them turn their visions into reality. And <a href=\"https:\/\/intjsecrets.com\/blog\/intj-strengths-and-weaknesses\/\">their secret weapon<\/a> to achieve that is &#8211; <strong>planning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INTJs want to do things as rationally and efficiently as possible. That\u2019s why they make strategies with measurable goals. And INTJs believe that the key to success is to stick with the plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This brings us to my next point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_adaptable_they_are\"><\/span>How adaptable they are<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>ENTPs are always <strong>open to change<\/strong>. They don\u2019t like when things get too boring, so pushing boundaries is something they\u2019re always open to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ENTPs aren\u2019t afraid of the unknown &#8211; they always go with the flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That might mean ordering questionable dishes for dinner. Or, it might mean buying a plane ticket to Paris for a little one-day shopping trip. Tomorrow. Even though that might mean they\u2019ll eat instant ramen for the rest of the month.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.giphy.com\/media\/9xnNG7EN2h822ithtT\/giphy.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m pretty sure INTJs would be disgusted by such a thought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INTJs are more of a <strong>planner type of people<\/strong>. They like to know how their life and activities are structured, and they can address their tasks in a specific order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last-minute changes are very stressful to INTJs. Let\u2019s say you had a Friday night planned for hanging out with an INTJ, but something came up. I strongly suggest you tell them by Monday, at most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They probably have their whole week planned out already. So you want to give them time to adjust their schedule in a timely manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Their_motivation_to_learn\"><\/span>Their motivation to learn<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Both of these personality types enjoy learning new things. But their motivations are rather different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INTJs are very <strong>pragmatic and efficient<\/strong>. So if they spend time expanding knowledge on a subject, it better be something that\u2019s applicable in real life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s say an INTJ wants to get a bank loan. They will spend their time reading all they can on the subject. They might even take up a banking course just to learn how loans work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Was INTJ not in need of a bank loan, they would probably never spend time doing such extensive research on the subject. Not because it\u2019s not interesting &#8211; but because they could spend that time learning something that\u2019s more applicable in real life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ENTPs aren\u2019t so deliberate about how they spend every second of their life. If they\u2019re interested in how something works, they won\u2019t mind spending half a day researching it. Even if it\u2019s a seemingly pointless thing like why flamingos only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1624854\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eat with their heads upside down<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just because knowledge about something might not have much practical usage in the real world, that doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s not worth knowing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_they_focus_on\"><\/span>What they focus on<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>INTJs are goal-oriented people. They have a plan for everything they do, and they\u2019re very serious about sticking to it. And if they get stuck on task #7, for example, they won\u2019t move from it until it\u2019s 100% accomplished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ENTPs, on the other hand, prefer more fluidity in their focus. That\u2019s why they won\u2019t mind simply skipping the aforementioned task and dealing with the rest first. Then, once they have more time to spare, they\u2019ll get back to task #7 and see if they came up with an idea to solve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Logically speaking, we could argue that focusing on one thing at a time is more efficient, but that\u2019s not how ENTPs work. In a way, that\u2019s because they each behave like the other when under stress and pressure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, let\u2019s see what those similar behaviors are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_thinking_process\"><\/span>The thinking process<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Both ENTP and INTJ are <strong>deep thinkers<\/strong>. They\u2019re intuitive, which allows them to recognize patterns and connections in things. This makes them able to understand more complex concepts in a rather rational way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These two personality types enjoy learning new things and expanding their knowledge. They absorb information like a sponge, and with the help of their logic, that info helps them form opinions and beliefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Being_managed\"><\/span>Being managed<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Neither of the two will enjoy being micromanaged by their boss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These two personality types like to have independence in the workplace. They\u2019re both very <strong>motivated and goal-oriented,<\/strong> so they don\u2019t need anyone directing their every move. They\u2019re perfectly capable of achieving what\u2019s required of them on their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, both of them would be rather <a href=\"https:\/\/intjsecrets.com\/blog\/intj-careers\/\">successful as managers themselves<\/a>. Their strategic thinking and problem-solving skills really shine in such situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Debating\"><\/span>Debating<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>ENTPs and INTJs aren\u2019t afraid of <strong>speaking their minds<\/strong>. So they\u2019ll gladly indulge in a debate, which can show off their logic and critical thinking skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even a conflict doesn\u2019t really need to be a conflict for these two. It\u2019s mental sparring &#8211; it allows them to compare perspectives and challenge others to do the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s also true for both of them is that they don\u2019t typically engage on an emotional level when debating.
