We <a href=\"https:\/\/intjsecrets.com\/blog\/intj-cognitive-functions\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"639\">process information and think deeply<\/a> but you can\u2019t see any of those things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We don\u2019t really talk about what we\u2019re thinking so INTJs come across as aloof and even mean at times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INTJs are pretty much known as being one of the least friendly personality types and many conclude that they must not be very open-minded because of this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s not the case, however.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INTJs are extremely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.authentichappiness.sas.upenn.edu\/newsletters\/authentichappinesscoaching\/open-mindedness\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.authentichappiness.sas.upenn.edu\/newsletters\/authentichappinesscoaching\/open-mindedness\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">open-minded individuals<\/a>. We think deeply about many situations and topics and tend to be open to interpreting anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the reason they\u2019re so rare is that they never externalize any of this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019re not the type to be outspoken about certain issues even though they\u2019re open to thinking about them and discussing them with a single another person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a bit contradictory and also why this personality type is so rare. Many open-minded individuals want to discuss issues and show others just what they\u2019re thinking, whereas INTJs are content to mull them over by themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Natural_leaders_but_hate_leading\"><\/span>2. Natural leaders but hate leading<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I guess \u201chate\u201d might be a bit of a strong word for the way we INTJs feel about being leaders in any given situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The thing is, <a href=\"https:\/\/intjsecrets.com\/blog\/intj-leadership\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1036\">INTJs are natural leaders<\/a>. They possess all the traits necessary to lead fairly, justly, and correctly. We just don\u2019t want to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We prefer to sit back and do things on our own but are often thrust into leadership positions based on how we appear to others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a rarity simply because those who usually lead the best are the ones who want to and are happy with taking on responsibility as a leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not that INTJs would make poor leaders, but they lack the desire to stand up in front of people and give orders or lead by example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But that may also be part of the reason they make some of<a href=\"https:\/\/intjsecrets.com\/blog\/intj-famous-people\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"599\"> the best leaders around<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contradiction in this sense is very rare, but also highly valuable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Highly_analytical_but_imaginative\"><\/span>3. We\u2019re equal amounts of both and that leads to some unique and rare interests and skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/intjsecrets.com\/blog\/intj-careers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">INTJs make some of the best authors<\/a> because of these two traits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to produce a book that\u2019s not flawed and that\u2019s also captivating and unique, you have to be able to think creatively but also logically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pieces need to fall into place just right and INTJs excel at this because it\u2019s natural for us to balance the two. But this is also extremely rare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not that <a href=\"https:\/\/intjsecrets.com\/blog\/istp-vs-intj\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"656\">other personality types<\/a> can\u2019t be both imaginative and analytical, but they have to really <i>try to<\/i> be one or the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INTJs do both equally and naturally, making them an anomaly among other personality types. It&#8217;s one of the main reasons why INTJs are so rare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Love_deep_conversation_but_not_great_socializers\"><\/span>4. Love deep conversation but not great socializers<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This has to do purely with the fact that small talk is the biggest turn-off for an INTJ. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We hate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019d think a personality type who loves to talk about issues as much as an INTJ would be great in social settings, but we\u2019re actually pretty awkward and clunky when it comes to meeting new people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Truth be told, we\u2019d much rather sit with a single person and have a real, meaningful conversation than we would mingle and chit-chat with those we don\u2019t really know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And this is a rare trait. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Usually, people who are great at conversation tend to be wonderful in social situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They get along with people really well and can talk to basically anybody about anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INTJ personality type just tends to come off as cold and calculating initially, and this can turn off a lot of other personality types who just don\u2019t get it, which makes socializing awkward and uncomfortable for everyone involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s why they do <a href=\"https:\/\/intjsecrets.com\/blog\/intj-jobs-no-degree\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">best in jobs<\/a> where they can work by themselves and don\u2019t have to engage in small talk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This rarity makes INTJs incredibly great company if you need someone to talk to but they\u2019re not exactly the life of the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_Logical_except_with_relationships\"><\/span>5. Logical except with relationships<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Relationships are often where we INTJs fall short. We\u2019re usually extremely logical thinkers and make our decisions based on this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/intjsecrets.com\/blog\/intj-intj-relationships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">But with relationships<\/a>, we just can\u2019t seem to put our over-analyzing minds aside to get really close to people. It\u2019s like we keep them at arm\u2019s length because we feel misunderstood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And most of the time, we are. It makes logical sense to avoid judgment this way, but it hinders both romantic and platonic relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emotions play a much different role than thinking does, and it\u2019s something INTJs just struggle with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a rarity because we use logic and analysis to sort out our emotions, but that\u2019s not the way emotions \u2013 especially love \u2013 work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Failing to figure out our emotions this way can drive us absolutely nuts, and we end up pushing people away to avoid having to deal with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s an oddity very few personality types have, and INTJs have the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So why are INTJs so rare? It mostly has to do with conflicting personality traits that are often misunderstood by the masses. The way these qualities work against each other and even for each other at different times makes INTJs one of the rarest personality types.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>P.S.
