INTJ Music: 15 Songs Every Introvert Will Enjoy

Ever found a song you completely relate to?

As an INTJ, that’s not something that often happens to me.

But there are some that have definitely left an impact on me.

And today, I’ll share with you some of the best INTJ music out there.

Let’s dive in.

Top 15 Songs for INTJs

As you’re about to find out, INTJs can enjoy different genres. Still, there are some songs that simply scream INTJ. Let’s see what they are.

Pink Floyd – Another Brick in the Wall 3

To be frank, the whole album “The Wall” resonates so much with the INTJ type. But if I had to pick a song that stands out the most, it’s this one.

The lyrics of the songs are very symbolic, just how we INTjs like them. But more importantly, they are also very relatable to most INTJs.

It shows a man who’s built a wall around himself to protect himself from the external world. And, well, we know a few things about isolation, don’t we?

Given that the mastermind behind this album, Roger Waters, is also an INTJ person, it’s not surprising why we can relate to his work.

Chopin – Polonaise Fantaisie

If any classical artist truly embodies the INTJ spirit, that’s Chopin. He limited himself to the piano, but that focus actually helped him use it in previously unexplored ways.

His work is very technically demanding and rather revolutionary for his time. His compositions are complex and contain a bunch of hidden intricacies, which is something we INTJs can truly appreciate.

Banks – Begging for Thread

I think this song sums up pretty well how INTJs sometimes feel in social situations.

It’s no secret that INTJs are horrible at taking hints. And at the same time, they’re too symbolic and metaphorical for others to be understood.

Well, that’s the same issue the singer is dealing with in the song. So naturally, given INTJs know how frustrating it can be, they can relate to her very well.

Phantom of the Opera – Phantom of the Opera

Let’s be real, what INTJ doesn’t like this song from the musical of the same name?

I guess it’s no surprise when you take into consideration that the character Phantom is also an INTJ. Although he’s an antagonist, there’s no doubt that INTJs can relate to his words.

He’s very emotional but can’t express his feelings, so he resorts to complex metaphors. But understanding the deeper meaning of his words is not a problem for INTJs.

Of course, it’s not just the lyrics of the song that captivate INTJs. They can definitely appreciate the mood tone the musical sets.

David Bowie – Space Oddity

One of Bowie’s biggest hits, Space Oddity, tells the story of Major Tom, an astronaut cutting off communication with Earth.

Now, that’s something INTJs wouldn’t mind, huh?

But, of course, the story is much deeper than that. Of course, an INTJ understands that the astronaut is purely a metaphor.

And while most people will tell you it’s an allegory of his addiction. And while they may not be entirely wrong, they still don’t see the deeper meaning. After all, that would be too logical, given that Bowie wasn’t very secretive about his addiction.

The astronaut is also a metaphor for Bowie’s alter ego, as it shows how he felt lost during that time. This feeling is no stranger to INTJs, which is why they can relate to this song so well.

Simon and Garfunkel – The Sound of Silence

The Sound of Silence expresses the feeling of frustration of being unable to communicate with people. As a result, conversations are downgraded to the most superficial level.

This song captures the essence of the INTJ personality type very well. Even the first few lines are so relatable:

“Hello darkness, my old friend

I’ve come to talk with you again”

There are two sides to the sound of silence. Sure, it gives INTJs quietness in their inner world. But silence is not always good, especially when it means you’re unable to communicate love to the other person. And INTJs know the struggle.

The Doors – People Are Strange

INTJs know what it is like to be an outcast. That’s why they can understand the words of the song on a more personal level compared to other personality types.

“When you’re strange, no one remembers your name”

For an INTJ, this hits too close to home.

When people find you weird or different, they don’t usually give you too much attention. Which is quite their loss because there’s nothing wrong with being distinctive.

Metallica – Nothing Else Matters

While INTJs may not be the most expressive people when it comes to emotions, it would be a lie to say they don’t have feelings.

And in fact, they’re no strangers to finding themselves inside the Ni-Fi loop. In other words, instead of focusing on logic and rational reasoning, they might focus on feelings and values instead.

Well, this track does a great job of expressing how the Ni-Fi loop makes INTJs feel. Sharing their emotions is not in their nature, but they’re willing to do it for the ones they care for.

Pink Floyd – Time

Pink Floyd songs are really the embodiment of an INTJ.

This song, for instance, represents grief of wasting precious time you can never get back.

As an INTJ, I find it to be quite frustrating, as I value efficiency in all things.

But being so focused on productivity and resourcefulness so much, you tend to forget about living in the moment. And that’s what this song reminds us to do.

Men At Work – Who Can It Be Now?

On the surface, the lyrics of this song may appear a bit silly.

But nothing is what it seems, right?

They actually depict in a very descriptive manner how anxious an invasion of personal space can be. And INTJs know that very well.

Of course that the singer knows who’s knocking on his door. But he’s definitely not in the mood to open them and entertain anyone tonight.

I’m sure every INTJ won’t appreciate an intrusion in their private space, be it literal or metaphorical.

The Weeknd – Out of Time

This song shows lamentation for being too secretive in a relationship. The singer is sorry for not expressing his feelings to the one he loves sooner because it’s too late now.

Unfortunately, this is something many INTJs can relate to. With introverted feeling as their tertiary function, INTJs are horrible at expressing their emotions. Sometimes, other people can interpret them as cold and uncaring.

Which is obviously far from the truth.

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky – 1812 Overture

Let’s be real. Every INTJ thought about world domination at least once in their life.

I admit, I thought about it quite a few times. And every time, I have this composition in my mind.

I mean, Tchaikovsky used real canon balls for this masterpiece. I don’t think there’s no way you can listen to this and not imagine leading the Battle of Borodino.

Billy Eilish – Bury a Friend

This song is full of deep motives hidden behind metaphors and symbols.

The beauty of the lyrics lies in the fact that you can decipher them in different ways.

And let’s be real, doesn’t that sound intriguing?

As an INTJ, I love figuring out what’s the most possible meaning behind the lyrics, and this song really makes it a challenge.

Taylor Swift – Exile (feat. Bon Iver)

This is yet another song full of analogies and metaphors which represent INTJs in their core element.

Taylor always talks about signs and hidden meanings, and this song is no exception. At first glance, the lyrics don’t seem very complex.

And to a casual listener, they probably aren’t.

But as an INTJ, I think I can see the real emphasis she put on the feelings in the song. In a way, she says some things INTJs feel but struggle to put into words.

Tears for Fears – Everybody Wants to Rule the World

I’d lie if I said that songs about world domination don’t make me energized.

After all, INTJs definitely do make good leaders.

The lyrics do have a deeper meaning, which focuses more on the consequences of having power.

But hey, we don’t always need to go that far into the analysis. Sometimes, it just feels good to fantasize about ruling the world our way.

To Sum Things Up

There you have it, some of the best songs INTJs can relate to.

From classical music to modern, from rock to pop – there’s a bit of everything.

There are no specific genres INTJs like. But what they do appreciate is complexity and deeper meanings.
